BAE Systems gets support contract for British Army vehicles

The British Army's armored track vehicle fleet is to receive support services from BAE Systems under a five-year, $75 million contract.

The award, which combines a number of existing support contracts into a more efficient and effective contracting agreement, was issued by the Ministry of Defense.

More than 3,500 tracked vehicles are covered by the award, including Warrior; Titan; Trojan; Bulldog; Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance; the Challenger Armored Repair and Recovery Vehicle; and the Challenger 2 main battle tank.

The Panther Command Liaison Vehicle, a wheeled armored platform is also covered, the government said.

"This contract helps ensure that we sustain a battle-winning armored vehicle fleet and represents an important investment in armored vehicles capability within the UK defense supply chain that safeguards UK engineering jobs," said Minister for Defense Equipment, Support & Technology Philip Dunne.

"It is also essential that we deliver high-quality equipment and services at the best possible value for the taxpayer and are able to meet any future capability challenges."
