Real-time situational awareness data and voice communications technology are to be provided to U.S. and allied militaries by Data Link Solutions.

Under an $18 million contract from the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, the New Jersey-headquartered company will deliver Multifunctional Information Distribution System Low Volume Terminals, or MIDS-LVT, a major component of Link 16 data exchange networks.

Receiving the MIDS-LVTs are the U.S. Air Force, Navy and U.S. Air National Guard.

The military forces of several other countries will also receive the equipment through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program.

"We're helping to ensure that our troops and allies have access to the real-time information they need to complete their missions and operate with U.S. and coalition forces," said Jack Stevens, product line director for Communications and Navigation Solutions at BAE Systems. "Our team is leading the delivery of combat-proven Link 16 MIDS terminals to allied forces worldwide."

Data Link Solutions is a joint venture company of Rockwell Collins and BAE Systems.
