Harris Corporation will continue its systems engineering and program management services support for a U.S. government emergency communications system.

The system is the Crisis Management System of the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency, which provides government leaders with video and voice communications -- powered by a high-performance network -- for information exchange.

This enables senior U.S. government officials to exchange high-interest, time-sensitive information for critical decision-making during emergency situations.

The contract from DISA to Harris Corporation is a re-compete indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award with a base performance period of one year and nine one-year options.

The potential value of the re-compete award is $450 million, Harris Corporation said.

"This program is a critical part of our national security infrastructure," said Wayne Lucernoni, president, Harris IT Services. "Technology plays a vital role in helping leaders make sound decisions and we are committed to giving them the best technology possible, whenever they need it."

Harris, which has supported the system since 2004, will continue to provide 24/7 on-call, on-site corrective maintenance for hardware and software components. Work will include design, development, integration, test, installation, training, and documentation of all enhancements to the system.
