Thales of France is deploying integrated infrastructure and traveler security solutions at two Omani airports under a contract from the Oman government.

The solutions for the airports in Muscat and Salalah include perimeter intrusion detection systems, video protection systems, access controls, screening equipment, security check points, access and backbone networks and data centers.

Thales is also responsible for testing new technologies, training operators and developing new procedures for improving security airport operations.

"Thales' experience in provision of security solutions is playing a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and on time delivery of all the systems and equipment to Muscat International Airport and Salalah's new airport," Thales said. "The state-of-the-art technologies are also helping the airports become interconnected through hub development with inter-operability and full service support for security stakeholders."

The value of the contract from Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communications was not disclosed.

Muscat International Airport is undergoing a modernization effort that includes the opening of a new terminal. The airport in Salalah opened last June.
