Halvorsen 25K aircraft cargo loaders used by the U.S. Air Force are to receive depot-level overhaul and logistics support from DRS Technologies Inc.

Under a $175 million, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award, the company's DRS Sustainment Systems unit will provide overhaul, program engineering support and parts management over a 10-year period for the loaders, which can be used with all commercial and military cargo aircraft.

The Air Force currently has 443 of the Halvorsen loaders at more than 160 locations around the world.

"The Air Force will benefit from the synergy of efforts by having both the Halvorsen and Tunner logistics programs residing with DRS," said Joseph Matteoni, Vice President/General Manager of DRS Sustainment Systems, Inc. "The opportunity to expand on our great relationship with the airmen in the field is paramount to us, and we look forward to providing world-class support throughout the life of the Halvorsen program."

Tunner is a loading system capable of handling 60,000 pounds of cargo.

DRS said overhaul work will be conducted at its facility in Missouri, where the company is overhauling Tunner systems.
