BAE receives $18.8M for maintenance on USS Princeton
by James Laporta
Washington (UPI) Jan 9, 2018

BAE Systems has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Navy for services in support of the USS Princeton, a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser.

The contract, announced Monday by the Department of Defense, awards BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair with a deal worth more than $18.8 million under a firm-fixed-price delivery order from a previous multiple-award, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contact.

Specifically, the contract calls for "depot-level maintenance, alterations, and modifications that will update and improve the ship's military and technical capabilities."

An option built into the award could see the overall value of the contract surge to more than $19.4 million, if it is exercised.

Work on the contract will occur in San Diego, Calif., where the USS Princeton is home-ported. The work is expected to be completed by September 2018.

More than $18.8 million will be obligated to BAE Systems at the time of award contract, and has been allocated from U.S. Navy fiscal 2018 operations maintenance and other procurement funds. More than $18.1 million will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
