Brazil's Flight Tech exporting UAV

Brazilian aviation company Flight Tech has been contracted to supply a mini unmanned aerial vehicle to an unidentified African country.

The contract -- the first Brazilian export award for a UAV -- includes a provision for logistical support and holds promise for additional orders from the client.

Flight Tech said it will supply the country with its Horus FT-100, which was developed in collaboration with the Brazilian Army through the Military Institute of Engineering and the Technology Center of the Army.

The Horus FT-100 is about 6.2 feet long, has a wingspan of about 8.8 feet. It is suitable use in target acquisition, reconnaissance, perimeter security, and in supporting infiltration and exfiltration operations, the company said.

The aircraft has a flight endurance of as much as two hours and a flight radius of as much as nine miles.

The UAV will be delivered to the African nation later this year.
