The Canadian Coast Guard has taken delivery of the 15th and final Bell 429 light-lift helicopter ordered in 2014 from Bell Helicopter Textron Canada Ltd.

"Helicopter support is a crucial component for delivering Canadian Coast Guard services and maintaining public safety," Jody Thomas, Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard said at an acceptance ceremony. "These helicopters, and the brave women and men who operate and maintain them, will further enhance the safe navigation of vessels and mariners in Canadian waters."

Of the helicopters ordered and previously delivered, 12 are in service across the country, while two are supporting pilot training.

Meanwhile, Public Services and Procurement Canada said the government of Canada also awarded a contract to Bell Helicopter for seven medium-lift helicopters, which will be delivered starting next year.
