Chinese individuals and organizations involved in unauthorized use of radio frequency and satellite resources will be subject to severe punishment, according to a draft regulation released by authorities on Tuesday.

The Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council published the draft amendment to the regulation on radio management to solicit public opinions. Transgressors will be fined up to 500,000 yuan (80,000 U.S. dollars).

The draft proposed that radio administrations be required to establish a surveillance and evaluation system over the radio electromagnetic environment and regularly disclose relevant information to the public.

Radio administrations need also to check on radio stations at regular intervals to spot illegal interference in radio frequencies, according to the draft regulation.
