French naval shipbuilder DCNS is touting its Gowind corvettes and Scorpene submarines at the Baltic Military Expo in Gdansk, Poland.

The promotion comes this week as the company seeks to develop a long-term and strategic partnership with Poland.

"DCNS positions itself to build a strategic partnership with Polish industry," DCNS said in a news release. "With a long tradition of technology transfer, DCNS has consistently demonstrated that it can be a key partner for navies, giving its customers full control of their sovereignty."

The Gowind 2500 corvette, which DCNS is offering to the Polish Navy with local partner PLZ DCNS, is a compact combat vessel for anti-submarine operations in littoral waters. It's 335 feet long, has a speed of 25 knots and a range of 3,700 nautical miles.

Malaysia and Egypt have bought Gowind-class corvettes.

DCNS is also offering Poland its Scorpene-class submarines, which have the capacity to integrate naval cruise missiles.

The Scorpene-class submarines feature the SUBTICS combat management system to detect and track distant noise emitters at high speeds. DCNS is also proposing its CANTO counter-measure for the submarines for protection against simultaneous torpedo attacks.
