Damen Shipyards in technical cooperation deal with Mexican Navy

Damen Shipyards Group, a Dutch shipbuiIder, announced this week that the Mexican Navy has signed a technical cooperation agreement for two of its boats.

The contract covers the design, material package, technical assistance and training for the Damen boats, which will be built in Mexico by the Mexican service.

The first vessel is a Damen Stan Patrol 4207. It will be the seventh Tenochtitlan-class boat of the Mexican Navy and will be built in Tampico by navy yard ASTIMAR 1, which has already built three Stan Patrols.

The Stan Patrol 4207 is 140 feet long, 23 feet wide, and has a speed of 22 knots.

The second boat is a Damen Fast Crew Supplier 5009, which features the company's Sea Axe bow and which has been adapted to meet specific Mexican Navy requirements.

The vessel includes a deck crane, four Caterpillar 3512C TA engines, and can reach a speed of 21 knots. It can carry as many as 145 passengers in addition to its crew of 17 sailors.

The vessel will be constructed on the Mexican Navy yard ASTIMAR 6 in Guaymas.

Additional details of the arrangement were not disclosed.
