Eclipsall has announced that the company has entered into an agreement to supply 3MW of solar panels to the Government of Uganda, Ministry of Health.

The panels will be used for planned solar installations on 100 medical clinics throughout the Republic of Uganda. The medical clinics are located largely in remote areas of the country.

The installations will include both grid tied and off-grid systems and will include battery back up and related services to ensure that the systems continue to operate in a stand-alone fashion.

The project represents one of the first major export contracts for Eclipsall which manufactures modules and provides end-to-end solar PV services from its plant in Toronto, Ontario.

"This is a major accomplishment for our company", said Eclipsall CEO Les Lyster. "Manufacturing for export to developing countries who see solar as a strategic alternative energy option, has been a key component of our business plan. To have it coming to fruition is very satisfying."

Uganda relies heavily on hydro and diesel and the country has been subjected to rolling black outs.
