The NATO Fuel Monitoring System is to receive support services from a subsidiary of Virginia-based Leidos, the company announced.

The fixed-price award from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Support Agency has a 10-month base period of performance with five one-year options. The total value of the contract if all options are exercised is about $13 million.

Leidos said the work to be performed by Varec Inc. includes activities to manage, implement, test and maintain the NATO Fuel Management System for member states.

"The contract provides an opportunity to deploy several significant new capabilities for NFMS, including a new enterprise mobile application for automatic data collection of fuel sale, receipt and shipment information," said Tim Archer, chief technology officer at Varec, Inc.

In addition, a vehicle tracking solution will monitor the movement of fuel within the NATO theater of operations using GPS and mapping technologies, Leidos said.

"Leidos is proud to provide innovative solutions to support key elements of the capabilities of the NATO Support Agency in fuel management and operations," said Larry Hill, Leidos group president.
