Lockheed Martin contracted for additional F-35 logistics support
Washington (UPI) Dec 16, 2016 - Lockheed Martin has received a $181 million contract modification to perform additional logistic and sustainment services for F-35 aircraft.

The modification covers services for F-35 fighters operated by the U.S. Air force, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Marine Corps, in addition to foreign military sales. Tasks will include ground maintenance, health management implementation, supply chain management, as well as other activities.

Work will be performed at Lockheed Martin's facilities in Fort worth, Texas; Orlando, Fla.; El Segundo, Calif.; Greenville, S.C.; and Warton in England. The U.S. Department of Defense expects the work to be complete by February 2017.

$132 million in U.S. funding and foreign military sales funding was provided at the time of the award. The Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Ma., is listed as the contracting activity.

Raytheon has received a $458.9 million contract to modernize various cryptographic equipment for the U.S. Air Force.

The contract includes modernization services for existing VINSON and Advanced Narrowband Digital Voice Terminal capabilities used by the National Security Agency, and involves foreign military sales. The U.S. Department of Defense did not yet disclose which countries may be included in the contract.

Work is scheduled to be performed at Fort Wayne, Ind., and Largo, Fla., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 15, 2021. $75 million in procurement funds were provided at the time of the contract award. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center in Lackland Texas is listed as the contracting activity.

Advanced Narrowband Digital Voice Terminal, or ANDVT, is a device used to provide low-bandwidth communications for the Defense Department, the National Security Agency, and other allied forces. Raytheon's contract award supports the Cryptographic Modernization program, which aims to enhance encryption performance.
