Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country will launch 11 military satellites into space by 2015.

Putin's comments came Friday during a meeting on the development of the Russian satellite fleet, RIA Novosti reported.

Russia has put five military satellites into orbit this year, and five more will be added to it by the end of the year, Putin said.

A further six satellites will be launched in 2014, Putin said.

Putin did not say what kinds of satellites were being launched.

Russia currently has 120 active satellites in orbit, about 80 of them for military or dual-use purposes.
