Russia tries easier scheme of launching spaceships
by Staff Writers
Moscow (Voice of Russia) Nov 05, 2012

A Progress at final assembly stage ready to roll out.

Russia's second attempt to dock the cargo spaceship "Progress" to the International Space Station according to a new simplified scheme was as successful as the first one.

The new scheme supposes that after being launched, a spaceship makes only 4 rotations around the Earth and docks the station in 6 hours.

The first attempt to try this scheme took place in August.

"Progress" is an unmanned spaceship, but Russia is planning to use this simplified scheme for manned spaceships as well.

This will save cosmonauts from the necessity to experience cold and lack of hot food for two days, which they had to experience later.

Besides, this will save them from unpleasant syndromes which they felt while their organisms were adapting to the conditions of weightlessness.

"Progress" delivered more than 2.5 tons of cargo to the space station.
