The U.S. Navy has tapped SAIC for provision of technical support to its Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific.

Work by the company will encompass production management and transition support; integration and fabrication support; and system and component procurement support for the SSC Pacific's Network Integration Engineering Facility

It will also include technical services -- production and material management -- to integrated systems for ashore or aboard ships for SSC Pacific, which is a research, development, test, and evaluation laboratory for C4ISR systems.

C4ISR is an acronym for command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and

reconnaissance.

The contract awarded to Science Applications International Corp. is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract. The contract, also given to one other company, has a potential value of as much as $94 million over five years.

"SAIC is honored to provide SSC Pacific with high-quality C4ISR systems support to ensure these critical systems are designed, built and tested to meet the harsh environments associated with shipboard, submarine, shore and airborne platforms," said Tom Watson, SAIC senior vice president and general manager of the Navy and Marine Corps Customer Group. "We are committed to providing our customers with the latest capabilities to enhance our Nation's warfighting abilities."
