Safran Identity & Security announced this week that it will open a location in Silicon Valley by the end of 2016.

The facility will be located in Redwood City, Calif., a location the company says will be strategically positioned near the Silicon Valley and San Francisco tech communities, the company said in a statement.

The expansion will inlcude an innovation center focused on digital payment, digital identity and the Internet of Things.

Visitors can interact with Safran's hardware and software products and see how the company is providing digital transformation across various areas, featuring biometric identification and authentication technologies that include fingerprint, facial recognition and iris biometric sensors, as well as cloud-based solutions and mobile device software development kits.

Safran, a French company, said the expansion is the next step in the company's technology work.
