Washington DC (SPX) Sep 22, 2016

Iridium PTT comprises three components that work together seamlessly to provide a ubiquitous solution globally: the Iridium PTT service delivered through the Iridium Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation; the Iridium PTT Command Center, the cloud-based management system where all radios and talkgroups are managed; and the Iridium Extreme PTT handset.

Satcom Global has announced that Iridium Communications has appointed it as an official reseller of the award winning Iridium Push-To-Talk (PTT) solution. Iridium PTT is the world's first global, satellite based push-to-talk service, enabling instant and simple group communications, anywhere at the touch of a button.

Satcom Global has qualified as one of a select group of communications providers chosen by Iridium to deliver the PTT service to market, a testament to the company's robust infrastructure, support capabilities and global reach. As a leading satellite communications distributor and a key partner of Iridium, Satcom Global provides vital communications services to users across all continents. This includes markets where Iridium PTT will play a key role in keeping teams connected such as: oil and gas, mining and construction, emergency services and first responders, NGO's, the military and maritime industries.

"Satcom Global is a reliable and valuable Iridium partner. Their international reach and knowledge of vertical markets that have a particular need for Iridium's PTT technology make them an ideal provider for this critical communications technology," said Joel Thompson, vice president and general manager, terrestrial business unit at Iridium. "We look forward to continued success working with them."

Graeme Gordon, commercial director at Satcom Global said, "Iridium PTT is an exciting addition to our portfolio of services for remote land-based users, offering a unique way of keeping teams in touch even in the most extreme environments. It is a powerful, secure and intuitive solution that is quick and easy to deploy, making it ideal for fast-paced environments as well as emergency situations where minutes can save lives. The combination of the robust and reliable Iridium Extreme 9575 PTT handset, with the global coverage provided by Iridium blows any other PTT solution out of the water."

Like most commercial and private trunked radio services solutions, Iridium PTT uses half-duplex communication, like a walkie-talkie, where one party talks to other participants in a group who serve as listeners. The pole-to-pole coverage provided by the Iridium network, as well as advanced security and features, elevates this service far above and beyond what is currently offered today.

In March 2016, Iridium PTT received further endorsement after winning the MSUA's 'Top Emergency Response Innovation Award' at Satellite 2016. Furthermore, looking to the future of satellite communications, Iridium PTT currently works with Iridium's existing constellation and is also compatible with Iridium NEXT, the company's next-generation satellite constellation which is scheduled to be completed in 2017.

Satcom Global is delighted to partner with Iridium in delivering Iridium PTT to more customers across the globe via a robust sales and support network spanning Asia, Australasia, EMEA and the Americas. Iridium PTT customers working with Satcom Global will benefit from an increasing range of innovative solutions developed to support the management and control of satellite communications, backed up with expert customer service you can trust.

FalTech to launch a compact Iridium repeater system at the Emergency Services Show
London, UK (SPX) Aug 31, 2016
Iridium two-way satellite telephones are used all over the world. They generally can't operate indoors, because the structure of the building blocks ingress and egress of the signal. When it isn't practical or safe to leave the building to use a satphone, a repeater system overcomes the barrier put up by the building and allows satellite communications at distance of up to 3Km from the outdoor a ... read more
