SpaceX set to launch Indonesian communication satellite after scrub

SpaceX is set to launch an Indonesian communication satellite after unfavorable weather scrubbed the initial flight on Tuesday night.

The new launch window is 8:01 p.m. EDT - 9:57 p.m. EDT for the launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station after Monday night's poor weather didn't allow a liftoff.

Tuesday night's forecast is a 15% favorable chance during the window and it increases to 30% by the end of the window.

"Deep atmospheric moisture will remain in place across Florida through early to mid-week," launch weather officers wrote. "This, combined with a stalled front across northern [Florida] and periods of instability aloft, will continue elevated chances of showers and storms for the primary and backup launch opportunities. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are possible near stronger storms."

If launched, the spacecraft Nusantara Lima also known as N5 will deploy its communications satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit with an expected first stage booster landing aboard a drone ship 8 and a half minutes after launch.

The spacecraft comes from a subsidiary of Indonesia's first private satellite company, Pasif Satelit Nusantara.

The satellite is designed to give a capacity of 160 Gbps with its 101 Ka-band spot beams, alongside having a greater than 15-year operating life span.

"Boeing's satellite business has a rich history of serving Indonesia and the Asia Pacific region, dating back to the Palapa A1 satellite in 1976," said Ryan Reid, president of Boeing Satellite Systems International in a statement. "With Nusantara Lima, we're proud to continue that legacy, delivering a reliable, high-throughput solution tailored to Indonesia's unique geography and connectivity needs. PSN has been an outstanding partner throughout this program."
