States Logistics Services installed a 363 kilowatt DC solar power system on the roof of their distribution center in Buena Park, CA, which will produce up to 82 percent of the distribution facility's electricity needs. States Logistics is the premiere third party provider on the west coast offering logistics, warehousing, transportation and packaging services.

Developed, designed and installed by SPG Solar, the solar energy system consists of over 1,000 solar panels and is projected to generate over 560,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) annually, which is equivalent to providing electricity to 51 average U.S. homes year after year.

"Sustainability is a driving force at States Logistics. This solar power system, built through the strong partnership with SPG Solar, reaffirms our commitment to environmental stewardship and will help us fix our energy costs in the long term," said Daniel Monson, President and CFO of States Logistics Services, Inc.

This solar installation will reduce State Logistics electricity expenses and demand on the grid by up to $76,500 annually. Additionally it will offset the equivalent emission of 10,096 tons of pollutants over 25 years or remove the equivalent of 76 cars from our congested highway yearly.

"States Logistics is taking a leadership role in planning for the future and setting an example for the potential of solar by offsetting nearly all of the facility's electricity needs," said Chris Robine, President and CEO of SPG Solar.

"This solar installation is a natural extension of States Logistics sustainable supply chain management practices."

The solar project is the latest initiative in States Logistics green shipping and sustainable transportation activities. Through plastic recycling programs, implementation of energy saving lighting systems and a biodiesel truck fleet, this solar power system continues to demonstrate their steadfast commitment to the environment.
